  • Attended Wake Forest and Atlantic Christian (now Barton College), with World War II service sandwiched between college years
  • Successful college baseball coach in Wilmington for 27 seasons
  • Became head baseball coach at Wilmington College (now UNC Wilmington) in 1951
  • Led team to five National Junior College Baseball Tournaments and national titles in 1961 and 1963
  • Remained head baseball coach when Wilmington College became a university and moved to NAIA and NCAA play
  • Honored as 1975 National NAIA Baseball Coach of the Year
  • Owns a combined baseball record at Wilmington College/UNC Wilmington of 574-292-6. ​
  • Also coached basketball team to two national tournament appearances
