Longtime baseball coach at UNC. Pitched for four teams in majors, 1910–1920. Record of 13-24. Head baseball coach at UNC, 1917–1918, 1932–1956. Won six SC titles. Suffered stroke in 1947 but continued as head coach until retirement, although with diminished responsibilities. Played football and baseball at Mississippi A&M (now State) and Elon College. Claimed to have taught the king of England to throw a curve ball during a 1913–1914 baseball world tour. Born 1891, Chapel Hill. Died 1959.
