Versatile college athlete. Starred in football, basketball, and baseball at UNC in 1920s. Only 5 ft. 7 in. tall. Played quarterback in football, shortstop in baseball, and guard in basketball. Named all-SC in basketball, 1922 and 1924. In 1924 led UNC to 26-0 record and mythical national championship, as voted by Helms Athletic Foundation. Quarterbacked UNC football team to 9-1 mark, 1922. Batted over .300 in baseball career, which included a 19-2 UNC mark in 1922. Coached 1925 UNC basketball team to 18-5 record while attending medical school full-time. After receiving medical degree, McDonald became urologist in hometown of Charlotte. Attended Charlotte High School and Fishburne Military School. Born 1901.  Died 1977.
