Mike Krzyzewski  2000


Was named head men’s basketball coach at Duke University in 1980 and has won more than 1,000 games and five national championships (1992, 1993, 2001, 2010,
2015) during his tenure in Durham. Also coached U.S. team to gold medals in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.
A Chicago native (born in 1947), he played at the U.S. Military Academy (1966–1969), then was named coach of his alma mater in 1976. Was there four seasons before being hired by Tom Butters at Duke. Was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001.
