Peggy Kirk Bell - (1976)

Top golfer and administrator. Native of Ohio. Won numerous amateur titles. Member of 1950 Curtis Cup team. Turned pro in 1950. Concentrated on teaching. Named LPGA Teacher of the Year in 1961, LPGA Professional of the Year in 1981. Awarded 1990 U.S. Golf Association’s Bob Jones Award for distinguished sportsmanship and 1993 William D. Richardson Memorial Trophy for outstanding contributions to golf. Author of several books on golf techniques. Founder of Pine Needles course in Southern Pines, home of 1996 U.S. Women’s Open.
