* Dale Earnhardt - (1994)

One of the most successful and popular NASCAR drivers in history. Learned sport from father, Ralph, a driver. Began racing hobby-class cars, 1973. Made Winston Cup debut in 1975. Became full-time Winston Cup driver, 1979. First victory, 1979, at Bristol. NASCAR Rookie of the Year in 1979. Winner of seven Winston Cup titles, 1980, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994, equaling mark set by Richard Petty. Ended career with 76 victories and more than $35 million in race earnings. Named Driver of the Year five times. Nicknamed the Intimidator because of his hard-driving style of racing. Raced in Chevrolets. Born 1951, Kannapolis. Died as a result of accident in the 2001 Daytona 500.
