* Eddie Cameron - (1969)

Coach and administrator at Duke for almost a half century. Star football and basketball player at Washington and Lee in 1920s. Duke assistant football coach, 1926–1941. Head basketball coach, 1929–1942. Record 226-99. Won three SC championships. Became head football coach in 1942 when Wallace Wade entered army. Coached Duke to 25-10-1 record in four seasons. His 1944 team beat Alabama 29-26 in 1945 Sugar Bowl, Dukes first bowl victory. Won SC titles in 1943, 1944, and 1945. Duke athletic director, 1946–1972. Key figure in founding of ACC. Active in ACC and NCAA affairs. Duke Indoor Stadium renamed Cameron Indoor Stadium in 1972. Born in Pennsylvania, 1902. Died 1988.
