* Whit Cobb - (1985)

Participated in tennis, basketball, and track at Durham High School and Davidson. Winner of numerous tennis tournaments in 1940s and 1950s. Teamed with Bo Roddey to win four North Carolina doubles titles. Named to several college basketball all-star teams, 1949–1950. Named 1950 SC Athlete of the Year. Head tennis coach at Duke, 1955–1959. Born 1928 in Durham.  Died June 8, 2003.
