* Tom Zachary - (1966)

Major league pitcher. Played for seven major league teams, 1918, 1920–1936. Left-hander. Graduate of Guilford College, 1918. Major league record 186-191. Won 18 games for Washington, 1921. Record of 12-0 for New York Yankees, 1929, still a major league record for most victories in a season without a loss. Won pair of games for Washington in 1924 World Series and posted a single win in 1929 series for New York. Famous for giving up Babe Ruth’s 60th home run, 1927, while pitching for Washington. Born 1896, Graham. Died 1969.
