College and professional basketball star. Native of Black Mountain. Attended UNC, 1982–1986. First-team all-ACC, 1985, 1986. Scored 1,912 points at UNC. First pick 1986 NBA draft. Played eight seasons with Cleveland Cavaliers. Played in five NBA all-star games. Averaged 19 points per game in pros. Cleveland retired his number 43. Spent time as a college basketball broadcaster.
