Star athlete for Hanes Hosiery teams, 1940s, 1950s. As a 6-ft.-3-in. center, she helped Winston-Salem–based team win 1951, 1952, 1953 AAU national basketball titles. Led team to 102 consecutive victories. Won 1953 Teague Award as top female athlete in the Carolinas. Star softball pitcher for Hanes Hosiery. Outstanding golfer. Member U.S. basketball team at 1955 Pan-American Games. Member N.C. Softball Hall of Fame. Native of Jacksonville, Fla. Died June 18, 2005.
