* Maxine Allen - (1972)

Native of West Virginia. Began bowling while employed as a schoolteacher in Seaboard, Northampton County. Top bowler in duckpins, tenpins, and ninepins. Won several national titles in ninepins in the 1940s and 1950s, when she was a resident of Durham. Was ranked nation’s top female duckpin bowler in 1952. Died in 1995.
