September 10, 1943 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, Max Lanier took the mound for the St. Louis Cardinals and went the distance, earning a 2-1 victory over the Cubs at Wrigley Field in Chicago before a crowd of 2,640. Lanier yielded eight hits, fanned eight and walked six to earn his 12th win against seven losses. He joined the NCSHOF in 2001.
