October 7, 1928 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, pitcher Tom Zachary won the third game of the 1928 World Series as his New York Yankees beat the St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 7-3. Born in Graham, Zachary spent 19 years in the big leagues with seven different teams and won 186 games, including an amazing 12-0 record during the ’29 season with the Yankees.  He was inducted into the NCSHOF in 1966.
