College and pro football player. Wide receiver at Wake Forest. Led nation in pass receptions, 1948. Caught 124 passes for 1,990 yards and 22 touchdowns in college career, which ended in 1949. Also played basketball for two years. Played for Chicago Bears, 1951–1952, and Philadelphia Eagles, 1952. Played 1953–1960 for Montreal Alouettes of Canadian Football League. Standout pass receiver. Later became Alouettes general manager, leading club to four Grey Cup titles. Member Canadian Football League Hall of Fame. Born 1925, Asheboro. Died April 21, 2002.
