On this day in history in the NCSHOF, pitcher Wes Ferrell of the Cleveland Indians earned one of his most challenging victories, going the distance and hanging on to beat the Chicago White Sox 10-5 at League Park in Cleveland. Ferrell, who gave up 12 hits, also helped his own cause by collecting three hits in four trips to the plate. And with 30 hits in the game, the contest still finished in exactly two hours! Ferrell played 15 years in the majors and both he and his brother Rick are members of the NCSHOF, with Wes joining in 1963.
