October 3, 1951 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, Whitey Lockman of the New York Giants had a key role in one of the most famous major league baseball games of all-time.  He had a run-scoring double to cut the Brooklyn Dodgers’ lead in the 1951 National League playoff game to 4-2, just before Bobby Thompson hit the “Shot Heard ‘Round The World” to win the pennant for the Giants with the home run. Lockman was inducted into the NCSHOF in 1983.
