October 15, 1946 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, Enos Slaughter scored the winning run in Game Seven of the 1946 World Series as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Boston Red Sox 4-3 at Sportsman’s Park in St. Louis.  A Roxboro native, Slaughter enjoyed a 19-year career in the major leagues and made the All-Star team 10 times. He was inducted into the NCSHOF in 1964.
