December 8, 1925 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, Harvie Ward, Jr., was born in Tarboro. Ward was the nation’s premier amateur golfer in the 1950’s and won the U.S. Amateur championship twice. He was inducted into the NCSHOF in 1965.
