January 9, 1951 - On this day in history, M.L. Carr was born in Wallace, NC. The Wallace-Rose Hill High School star then went on to a brilliant career at Guilford from 1969-73. Professionally he is best known for a stint with the Boston Celtics in the NBA, where he was a two time NBA Champion in 1981 and 1984. He made the ABA All-Rookie First team in 1976, and the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 1979. Carr finished his professional basketball career with over 6,500 points and 3,000 rebounds.


M.L. Carr was inducted into the NC Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.
