January 10, 1982 - On this day in history, during the 1982 NFC Championship game, WR Dwight Clark made what has become known as “The Catch.” Born in Kinston and a high school star at Garinger in Charlotte, Clark hauled in the pass from QB Joe Montana to lift the San Francisco 49ers over the Dallas Cowboys, 28-21. Clark would spend his entire professional football career as a member of the San Francisco 49ers. He would become a 2x Super Bowl Champion and an NFL All-Pro.
Clark was inducted into the NCSHOF in 1997.
