January 19, 1974 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, all-American Bobby Jones stole the ball and drove the length of the floor for a game-winning lay up as time expired, lifting North Carolina to a 73-71 victory over Duke in ACC action in Durham. The Charlotte native, a South Mecklenburg star, wound up enjoying 13 years in the NBA, spending 8 years on the NBA All-Defensive team. Bobby was the first player to receive the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in 1983. He joined the NCSHOF in 1989.
