January 27, 1998 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF legendary football coach and educator Lee Stone died at the age of 91. A native of Pennsylvania, Stone had the football field at Asheboro High named in his honor. He is a member of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame and was inducted into the NCSHOF in 1977.
