February 18, 2001 - On this day in history, legendary race car driver Dale Earnhardt Sr. died from injuries sustained in an accident during the Daytona 500. “The Intimidator” won 76 NASCAR races and was a seven-time Winston Cup champion. Dale remains, to this day, a larger than life figure in NASCAR history. He has been inducted into the motorsports hall of fame, International motorsports hall of fame, and was an inaugural member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
He was inducted into the NCSHOF in 1994.
