March 6, 1954 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, Dickie Hemric led his Wake Forest team in the final in the first ever Atlantic Coast Conference basketball tournament at Reynolds Coliseum.  He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the event and scored 26 points in the championship game, but N.C. State beat the Deacons to claim the title 82-80. Hemric was enshrined in the NCSHOF in 1972.
