March 10, 1973- On this day in history in the NCSHOF, Tommy Burleson of North Carolina State was named the Most Valuable Player of the Atlantic Coast Conference basketball tournament held at the Greensboro Coliseum. State edged Maryland 76-74 in the championship game. A high school star at Avery County, Burleson went on to play seven years in the NBA and was inducted into the NCSHOF in 1996.
