April 13, 1916
On this day in history in the NCSHOF, Ernie Shore of the Boston Red Sox got his first start of the year in game two of the season and pitched the Red Sox to an 8-2 victory over the Philadelphia Athletics at Fenway Park. Shore, who was born in East Bend and attended Guilford College, went seven innings and allowed just three hits, striking out one and walking one. Shore joined the NCSHOF in 1979.
