On this day in history, Francis Rogallo filed for three patents with the U.S. Patent Office.

April 29, 1963 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, Francis Rogallo filed for three patents with the U.S. Patent Office. The father of hang gliding, Rogallo filed for patents involving the “Flexible Wing Vehicle Configuration,” which helped lead to hang gliders and paragliders.  A NASA scientist and engineer, Rogallo joined the NCSHOF in 1987.
