On this day in history, Burgess Whitehead made his major league baseball debut...

April 30, 1934 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, Burgess Whitehead made his major league baseball debut with the St. Louis Cardinals.  Born in Tarboro, Whitehead was the second baseman for the legendary “Gas House Gang” in St. Louis, which won the 1934 World Series. He was inducted into the NCSHOF in 1981.
