May 14, 1981 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, Cedric Maxwell of the Boston Celtics was named the Most Valuable Player of the NBA Finals as he led the Celtics to a series victory over the Houston Rockets, four games to two. Maxwell averaged 17.7 points per game in the championship series, which Boston clinched with a 102-94 win in Game Six. Maxwell was inducted into the NCSHOF in 1998.
