May 29, 1989 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, outstanding football player and coach Bob Waters died of ALS. Waters was head football coach at Western Carolina University for 20 years after playing for the San Francisco 49ers as a quarterback. He was inducted into the NCSHOF in 2014.
