June 14, 1955 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, Wake Forest stayed alive in the College World Series at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska, beating Western Michigan by a 10-7 count. Two days later the Deacons would beat that same team for the NCAA baseball championship, with Bill Barnes at third base one of the key Deacons all season long. He joined the NCSHOF in 1979.
