June 30, 1931 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, Durham native Rick Ferrell had a double and a single in three trips to the plate to help his St. Louis Browns to a 7-0 win over the Washington Senators at Sportsman Park in St. Louis—a game that was completed in an hour and 40 minutes. Ferrell raised his batting average to .329 with his performance, one of 1,884 major league games he played in 18 seasons.  He joined the NCSHOF in 1964.
