July 9, 1938 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, second baseman Pep Young of the Pittsburgh Pirates had two hits in four at bats and scored twice as the Pirates nipped the St. Louis Cardinals 8-7.  The Bucs scored five in the first inning and held on before a crowd of 2,859 at Sportsman’s Park in St. Louis. Young joined the NCSHOF in 2000.
