August 1, 1960 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, Jim Perry of the Cleveland Indians hurled a complete game shutout as the Tribe defeated the Washington Senators by a 3-0 count at Griffith Stadium in Washington. Perry gave up just five hits and struck out for in improving his won-loss record to 12-5. Both he and his brother Gaylord enjoyed long, successful major league baseball careers and both are in the NCSHOF, joining in 1973.
