August 11, 1940 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, Taft Wright of the Chicago White Sox banged out four hits in a doubleheader, including a triple and three runs batted in among his three hits in game two, as the White Sox swept the Detroit Tigers by identical 4-3 scores at Comiskey Park in Chicago. A crowd of 32,032 watched it. Born in Tabor City, Wright had a .311 career batting average in the majors and joined the NCSHOF in 1992.
