NCSHOF President Nora Lynn Finch Named to Women's Basketball Hall of Fame

Finch spent more than 30 years at NC State...

Add another local to the Woman's Basketball Hall of Fame. Nora Lynn Finch, a former NC State assistant coach and athletic administrator, is among the seven selections to be inducted in June.

Finch spent more than 30 years at NC State serving various roles connected to women's athletics. She was an assistant coach for Kay Yow before joining the Wolfpack's athletic administration. In 2008, Finch left her post at NC State to work for the Atlantic Coast Conference. She has served at the league's Senior Associate Commissioner for Women's Basketball. She announced that at the end of the 2018-2019 academic year, she will retire.

Finch's work in women's basketball has reached a national level. In 1981 she was name the chair of the inaugural NCAA Division 1 Women's Basketball Committee and if there is a committee that involves women's basketball, Finch has served on it.

When contacted about joining the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, Finch told WRAL, "Never underestimate how important the people and places in your life are!"
