Richard Petty 1973

The most successful NASCAR driver in history. Winner of record 200 races, 95 more than runner-up David Pearson. Winston Cup winner, 1964, 1967, 1971, 1972, 1974, 1975, and 1979, total equaled only by Dale Earnhardt. Won Daytona 500 record seven times. Top-five finisher in 356 races. Earned almost $8 million in races. Able to win on all types of tracks. Enormously popular because of aggressive racing style and accessibility to fans. Father Lee was top NASCAR driver. Son Kyle continues the tradition. Team owner after retirement from racing. Born 1937, Level Cross.
